Eyelid correction (eyelid lift)

Droopy eyelids or bags under the eyes make a face look tired, and can even restrict the field of vision if they are more pronounced. Such changes to the eye area are part of natural aging, but in some cases can occur at a younger age due to genetics. “Eye bags” are small deposits of fat that can be prominent in some individuals.

By means of an eyelid lift (called blepharoplasty in the technical jargon), sagging eyelids (“drooping eyelids” or “drooping eyelids”) and bags under the eyes can be corrected on an outpatient basis and without any remaining visible scars. The result is a younger and above all fresher (no longer tired or exhausted) looking face.

The procedure takes approximately one (upper eyelid or lower eyelid) to two hours (upper eyelid and lower eyelid combined). The incisions are made in the natural folds of the eyelids so that the scars remaining after the wound has healed are no longer visible. Immediately afterwards, the fresh surgical sutures are covered with thin plasters. After an eyelid lift, the eyes are swollen, bruising often occurs. For this reason, the guest receives cooling pads on the eyes directly after the procedure during the recovery phase. It is generally recommended to cool the eyes several times a day during the first week after the procedure.

On the first day after eyelid correction, local follow-up control is performed, and five to ten days after the procedure, the wound is checked again and the stitches are removed. By means of a photo documentation after about six weeks and again after six months the development is recorded.

With increasing age, the elasticity of the fine skin on the upper and lower eyelid and also of the eyelid muscles decreases. Excess skin in the area of the upper eyelid results in so-called drooping or sagging eyelids, and unsightly bags often form on the lower eyelid. Such aging processes are often perceived as very disturbing, as they lead to a sad, tired facial expression. In just one small procedure, excess tissue (often including fat and muscle tissue) can be removed gently and on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia.

1.consultation eyelid

The eyelid consultation lasts approximately 45 minutes. It is important that our treating physician can get a good picture of the structure so that the procedure later leads to the optimal result.

2nd day of treatment (approx. 2 hours)

Conversation again

Before the surgery begins, the surgeon will go over the surgery with you again and discuss all the details.

Twilight sleep

Although it is an operation that takes place very close to the eye, twilight sleep is sufficient. General anesthesia is performed only upon explicit request.

Eyelid incision

The surgeon starts with a fine incision on the eyelid, where the suture will be later.

Remove excess grease

Depending on the gentleman, the excess fat is removed after the incision. This step is not necessary for all eyelid lifts.

Removal excess skin

After the surgeon has removed fat, he or she will begin to remove the excess skin on the eyelid. In some cases, the muscle around the eye is still thinned out, which provides a particularly natural and long-term result.

Wake-up phase

Once the surgeon has closed the eyelids with a particularly fine and delicate suture, you will slowly wake up from your twilight sleep.

3.aftercare

One week after the successful lifting of your eyelids, the surgeon will check how the healing is progressing. After every 4 weeks, 3 months and 6 months another control takes place. You can also contact us between these checks and feel free to drop by if you are unsure.
